The basics
What do I need to bring?
Your phone and comfortable walking shoes. Headphones are strongly recommended — the narration is designed to feel like someone is speaking directly to you. You may also consider bringing water, snacks, and sun protection.
How long does each quest take?
Most quests take around two hours at a comfortable pace, including time to look around at each stop. You control the timing entirely — stops unlock when you tap, so you can linger as long as you like. If you need to stop mid-quest, your progress is saved.
The experience
Is the history real?
Every guide is a historical figure who was genuinely embedded in the neighborhood you're exploring. Their narration is drawn from primary sources: letters, diaries, newspaper accounts, and documented records of what they said and believed. EraHopper never invents history. Some stories incorporate elements of historical fiction, but the facts remain true to history.
Can I do a quest with friends or family?
Absolutely. Groups can share a single phone and speaker, or each person can follow along on their own device with headphones for the full immersive experience. A few quests are recommended for adults only — the Golden Gate Park quest is a great choice for families with kids.
Can I go at my own pace?
Completely. No scheduled departures, no tour groups, no time limits. You buy a quest and walk it whenever you're ready. Once purchased, it's yours to revisit as many times as you like.
Pricing & access
How much does it cost?
Individual quests are $25 each. Once purchased, the quest is yours with no expiry. Early access subscribers will receive a discount at launch.
What is your refund policy?
If you haven't started a quest, we'll refund you in full — no questions asked. If you've started but hit a technical issue that prevented you from finishing, reach out at hello@erahopper.com and we'll make it right.

Where is EraHopper available?
EraHopper launches in San Francisco in Fall 2026 with three quests: Golden Gate Park, the Cable Car hills, and the Barbary Coast. Sign up for early access and we'll let you know when new cities go live.
